Do you work continuously without any breaks? Do you feel tired when working for a long time? Do you feel a loss of concentration after working for more than 20 minutes on one task? Do you know the human brain needs a reward after working for you? If you are in the midst of these situations then you need to know about Pomodoro, a technique developed by Francesco Cirillo based on productivity and work efficiency improvement.

Pomodoro is a human psychology-based approach to make the human brain more effective by giving small breaks and rewards after typically after 25 minutes of continuous work without any distraction. I personally found this technique very effective because it actually gives little but essential relaxation of 3–5 minutes to my mind. Practicing Pomodoro was a bit challenging for the first time because it’s difficult for me to work consistently for 25 minutes without any distractions in mind. I faced the problem of popping up of idle thoughts like opening Facebook and seeing any update, login into WhatsApp and looking for any new message and status, browsing on Google to read any latest news, etc. These things were tough for me because I am habitual of these things. But as I have set my goal of following Pomodoro so it went well.

Pomodoro technique boosted my efficiency as I was taking intervals and giving myself rewards in the form of eating one toffee after every tick. It made my mind a bit relaxed and comfortable to ready for the next tick/task as I gave relaxation to my mind. So overall, Pomodoro is a useful mind-based activity.

Moreover, following Pomodoro is quite difficult for the first time, but I believe adopting it on daily basis and in daily routine tasks will not only increase your capacity to work but also make your efforts more productive and effective. That’s why I have decided to adopt this process in my assignments and tasks. The things which I want to control are distractions that come into my mind, switching off mobile and laptop and making myself confined to a room only.
